Five Cabinet Hardware Trends

Knobs and pulls are like the jewelry of the room; a finishing touch that should stay closely connected to the overall design of your home. After looking through tons of websites, it’s safe to say the possibilities are endless in terms of styles and finishes. New hardware not only instantaneously transforms the look of the space, it’s also easily reversed. So, if you’re in a rental and want to make it feel more like home, this is something you can do! Just remember to save the original hardware to change back to when you leave! With so many options out there, choosing hardware can be intimidating. You want to make sure you pick something that you love, both aesthetically and functionally. I’ve pulled together some of my favorite styles and finishes to help give you some direction!
Matte Black
The matte black trend is seen everywhere this year and it’s looking really good on kitchen and bathroom hardware! It is sleek, sophisticated, and goes well with farmhouse, modern, classic…probably every design style out there. This finish gives high impact and contrast on white or light-colored cabinets. And gives a nice monochromatic look on darker ones.
Gold/Brass
Gold and brass hardware was shunned for years, but it’s back and better than ever! Today’s elegant hardware has a beautiful brushed, satin, or antique finish. I love the rich, warm tone gold brings to cooler shades like white or gray. I also love how it really stands out on colors like blue or black. This beautiful accessory is sure to add a bit of luxury to your home!
Weathered Nickel
Weathered nickel is mostly used in rustic and farmhouse designs, but can definitely be used in traditional, transitional, and modern designs. It adds warmth, dimension, and a bit of charm. I like that it has a very understated and comfortable vibe.
Silver
Finishes such as polished nickel, stainless steel, and brushed chrome are all good choices for a silver look. This is a clean, classic style and will probably be a popular option forever!
Mixing Styles and Finishes
Mixing styles and finishes can be hard, but it’s not impossible. The key is consistency and uniformity. In the kitchen above, they used three different styles and two different finishes. It flows well because of the consistency in placement. For a traditional look, you would use pulls for drawers and knobs for cabinets. For a more modern look, you could use all oversized pulls. There are so many combinations that look amazing. The hardest part is narrowing it down to your favorite one!
