Homemade Vanilla Extract
Hello and welcome to blog! I am so excited to finally get this blog post up! I have been making Homemade Vanilla extract for three years. I give it out as teacher, neighbor and family gifts. Absolutely everyone loves it! I first got this recipe from my friend Bre @brepurposed This year I decided to make my own custom labels for you to print too. I just love making homemade gifts for holidays and this one couldn’t be easier! You can shop all items HERE
Ok so here’s what you will need. Vanilla beans, 8 oz glass amber bottles and Vodka. Don’t worry everything, expect the vodka, is linked at the bottom of the post! I get my Vodka from Trader Joes. It’s a nice mid grade Vodka that won’t break the bank. I made 20 8oz bottles and used two packs of the vanilla beans and three 1.75 liters of Vodka.
First, you will cut the vanilla beans in half. Yay! We just doubled our amount of vanilla beans! Then you slice, but not all the way through, the middle of each bean. this will help release the vanilla favor.
Add 4-6 vanilla beans to each bottle. You can use more if you like or if you’re making smaller batches. The more you add, the more flavor it will have. I have found that 4-6 tastes just fine.
After you place the vanilla beans in all the containers, you fill the bottle with Vodka. Fill to almost the top, but not all the way. Place the top on and close tightly.
Lastly, you can add some decorative dried fruit, cinnamon stick and rosemary and tie it on. This is totally optional! I also created some free printable labels for you to print out as well! Click the link HERE to print!. I like to use adhesive waterproof labels. I hope you make the homemade vanilla extract this year!! It honesty is so easy and never expires.
