New Build Staircase With L.J.Smith

Hello and welcome to the blog! Here’s a new build update! The staircase is done! We got every thing from L.J. Smith Stair Systems. This is a great way to save money and do it yourself or hire someone to install. I loved that I was able to pick everything out myself. L.J. I wanted to keep the staircase clean and simple. At our current home I have wooden balusters, and I wanted to change it up, so I went with iron this time. I chose 1/2″ Hollow Iron Balusters. L.J Smith has a smooth versions, which I chose, and a hammered face version. Both look great! I really like the sleek clean look and design of these balusters. L.J. Smith has so many options to chose from.

I wanted a nice traditional look for the newel posts. I really loved the look of the Box Newel. It has a clean look, but lends itself to the traditional, yet modern design. I chose White Oak to match my hardwood floors. You can chose from a variety of wood species. You then stain them whatever color you want. My uncle made a custom stain to match my hardwood floors. I think he did a great job.

Again with the handrails I went with clean and simple. I chose Non-Plowed White Oak Handrail. L.J. Smith has several lengths you can choose from and so many handrail options. You can really customize your stairs just how you want!

Last but not least, are the stair treads and risers! I was so excited when I learned L.J. Smith sold wooden stair treads! You can get everything you need for your entire staircase! I love wooden stairs and have had them in my previous two homes. I chose a white oak treads again to match my white oak hardwood floors. My uncle put his custom stain on these as well. I went with REVERSIBLE SQUARE NOSE MITER RETURN TREAD. I like the square nose look, but they also offer rounded noses. I plan on just painting my risers white. So I chose poplar risers.
