Home Office reveal
Well here she is!! My wonderful little home office/ sanctuary. I’m so excited to finally have this space completed. It has sat almost finished for a year now, so it feels really good to get this checked off my list, plus it was last space in our big home remodel that needed to be done! First lets take a look at what it looked like before.
The previous home owners used the casitas as a bedroom. We didn’t have the need for another bedroom so I knew it had to be a home office. We painted all the shutters in the room, but I removed the door shutters. They just seemed outdated and closed off the already tight space.
Of course the carpet had to go and we had to paint.
The original bathroom was just like all the original bathrooms in the house. Just builder grade and outdated. The floors were just vinyl flooring and the shower had a light beige tile.
So once we painted the room Extra White by Sherwin Williams and put in maple hardwood floors, it was time to start on the built ins. My Cousin Christian built all the cabinetry. I wanted to do something a little different on the walls so we decided to put MDF rectangles in a basket weave pattern on the walls. It matches the subway tile in the bathroom that is also laid in a basket weave pattern.
We also put up some board and batten in the bathroom.
The original mirrored medicine cabinet was broken and had to be replaced. Since I knew this bathroom wasn’t really going to be used as an everyday bathroom, it didn’t need a lot of closed storage. So I had my cousin frame out the opening and add a shelf. Then we put the same tile that’s on the floor in there too. I love how it turned out!
I absolutely fell in love with this cement tile from Riad Tile! I mean what’s not to love right! It’s a beautiful navy and white and the pattern is perfect. My favorite part is how the tile carries on into the shower floor. The white subway tile contrast the navy in the cement tile perfectly too.
Ok so onto the pretty stuff!! So here she is. She’s white, neutral and has pops of pink and I think she’s perfect! It always amazes me what paint can do. Painting the walls and shutters white just brightened up the space so much and the beautiful maple floors add just the right amount of warmth. I knew I needed an office desk, but it had to be not too big, not too small and white. Luckily I found this beautiful office desk that fit that description perfectly. Added a comfy office chair with a beautiful pink pillow from my sweet friend Mailoa, the owner of Jules and Tone Etsy shop, some auxiliary seating with some cute pink fur pillows, and of course a rug for texture. I love this rug so much I actually have two! One is in my son’s room too. Paint color: Extra White Sherwin Williams
So to add a little more pink and girliness, not sure that’s a word, I got onto Minted! They have such a huge variety of prints. I knew I could find the right pieces for my office. When I found these beautiful floral prints I knew they were the ones!! I added the natural raw wood frames and that just sent them over the top!! I love the pop of color they add, and they just pop against the white walls. If you’re looking for some good quality prints at good prices, then head to Minted. print1, print2, print3, print4
I just love how my Minted art work sets the back drop for my desk. They just set the tone for the entire space. Feminine, bright and airy!! Pillow, Jars, Chair, Palm Tree
Additional storage was a must in this little space. I just fell in love with this Mid Mod little buffet. It may be little, but it packs a punch! It has a pull out drawer and two cabinets, plus it looks so stylish. It fit the decor style I was going for in here perfectly. I also added these gold frames. We just had family photos taken and I can’t wait to put them in these beautiful frames. I found the floor Basket on a trip to Ikea. Similar lamp, Jar,
I also added these Ikea shelves for more storage and to style. I was excited to find the natural wood color shelves. They go with my butcher block counter tops perfectly. I found the Girl Boss sign at Homegoods, and the “Better an oops than a what if” sign from Hobby Lobby. The little plants and basket I found at Ikea. Jars
With the built ins we added I actually have a decent amount of storage. The butcher block tops were the icing on the cake!
Of course no cabinets are complete with out Cabinet Hardware. It’s jewelry for your cabinets. I found these beautiful golden champagne knobs at Amerock. They are so solid and heavy. I love the color too. I ordered the round knobs for all my cabinet doors and the matching handles for my drawers. Amerock has a wide selection of hardware to choose from and a variety of colors too.
Of course a clock is a must in any office and this beauty does not disappoint. It’s all about the details.
I love this pillow from Jules and Tone so much! Remember it’s all about the details when putting a space together. The blush in the pillow ties in all the little pops of blush through out the space.
Ok lets move into the bathroom shall we. This little bathroom quickly became my favorite bathroom I’ve ever designed! Between the amazing cement tile from Riad Tile, the gold faucet from Build.com and the gorgeous Vanity light from Lamps Plus I mean there’s not much not to love! The best part to me is how the navy in the tile works so well with the gold in the bathroom fixtures and light. Plus the contrast of the white walls with the tile is insane! I decided to have the subway tile laid on a basket weave pattern. I also had the tile installed on the wall behind the toilet and vanity. Mirror, Shower curtain, Hand towel, Jars
Ugh I could sit here and stare at this bathroom all day lol! I actually did do that for the first few days after it was done. Give me all the gold faucets, vanity lights that look like they’re from the 1920’s and stunning cement tile!! Mirror, Pink jars, White jars, Hand towel Toilet, Vanity
I mean can you even with this gold Kohler faucet from Build.com!!
I also got the matching Kholer shower fixtures too. Just can’t enough of the gold!
I love the elegance of this vanity light from Lamps Plus. It just has a regal feeling to it. The ridges on the light covers reminds me of the 1920’s.
These floors….do I really need to say more lol! The tile has a strong pattern on it, but it still goes well with so much. I think it compliments my maple oak floors just perfectly. If you’re in the market for good quality cement tile and a wide selection head to Riad Tile. Their tiles rock!
To me this is way better than a traditional medicine cabinet. Its like artwork on the walls. Pink jars
I also added some gold towel hooks, with some white towels.
Well there you have it. This little space went from drab to fab! I really feel like a boss lady when I sit here at my desk! I hope you enjoyed the reveal of my home office /sanctuary. I love just going out here hoping on my computer, listening to music on my Echo Dot and having some piece and quiet.
