Living room Refresh with Bassett Furniture

Hello and welcome to the blog!! Today I am sharing my recent living room refresh I did with Bassett Furniture. I absolutely love all Bassett Furniture. The quality is unbeatable!! When designing a space I always start with this question, what is the space going to be used for. For me, this space is an area where we relax, come together, play games and watch TV. It’s where we spend the most time as a family and entertain friends. I knew whatever pieces I put in to the living room needed t0 not only be comfortable, but durable. The first item that caught my eye when I walked into the Bassett showroom, was this fabulous leather Myles Chair!! Now I had been on the hunt for a good looking swivel chair for years, so when I found out the Myles chair swiveled, I just about screamed with excitement!! There are so many amazing fabrics and leather to choose from for the Myles Chair too. You can also choose your stain for the bottom wood. I chose the Veneto Cognac Leather with the Walnut finish on the wood. Leather is a wonderful option because it looks better with age, and is easy to wipe clean when needed!

The Myles Chair not only looks great, but its also super comfortable!! It is the perfect depth and width for our living room. Our previous chairs were too large for the space, so I was excited to finally get the right scale in here. I love the contrast the Veneto leather adds to the space too.

When planning out a room it is important to start with the larger pieces and work your way down. Often times I will start with the sofa and then choose my supporting pieces, as I call them, such as, accent chairs, coffee table, rug and decor accessories. I knew I wanted a sofa with a bench seat and nice clean lines. It also had to be comfortable.  The Oliver Sofa checked all those boxes!! I fell in love with the sleek design. For my large more expensive pieces, like a sofa, I always recommend going neutral. This is a furniture piece that you plan on having for many years to come, so you don’t want to go with a bold color that you will tire of quickly, or will go out of style fast. Keeping this in mind I decided to go with the Oatmeal Performance Linen Look Fabric for the Oliver Sofa. It’s a beautiful neutral color, plus it holds up to daily use from kids and pets!! This fabric is suitable for high traffic areas, like family rooms, for items used every day for casual seating.  This fabric is tested using a respected method that simulates years of use with a person sitting down and getting up from an upholstered seat – as well as for the amount of pulling both the yarns and seams can withstand.  Bassett’s standards exceed industry standards in these categories.

The Oliver Sofa is also a great snuggle spot too!! There’s plenty of room for multiple people to sit.

A coffee table can make or break a space!! If it is too big or too small it can totally ruin the look and function of a space. Knowing what size and shape will work best in an area is important. I knew for this space I wanted a round coffee table. It is not a large space, so I needed to use the most space saving option. Round coffee tables give you more walking space than a square or rectangular one. The Tahiti Drum Cocktail Table from Bassett is simply gorgeous. The finish for the Tahiti drum cocktail is a gentle mix of brown and grey tones, with a washed glazed effect, leaning more toward the grey coloration. It has a nice wide surface of 42 inches, but still allows plenty of walking space around it.

The Tahiti Drum Cocktail Table has a lovely faux wood grain detail. The drum design of it is so unique and fits in with any design style.

I believe I found the perfect console/sofa table!! The Ventura Console Table in the Chalk Slate Finish is simply perfect!! It looks great on its own, or behind a sofa! It is the perfect height to be a sofa table. One of my biggest regrets from our remodeled was putting French doors in the living room. It was a originally a large picture window, and I changed it to a set of French doors. In doing so, I lost that wall space for furniture. Plus we never use the doors! I had been searching for the right size console table to place in front of the doors. The Ventura Console Table fills the space perfectly.

I also love the modern look of the table and the storage it has! It is a great table to add lamps too and display your favorite decor pieces. I like using the smaller openings for my design books.

Ok onto what is probably the most important piece in the room!! This fabulous wool rug! It is even prettier in person! It is the Florentine rug in the color Light Grey. I went with the 9’6″x13′ size. It is important to have a rug large enough to have the front feet of the sofa and chairs on the rug. Its nice and soft too. Perfect for the kids to lay on and play board games, or snuggle with our dogs.

The Florentine Rug is hand woven using a blend of undyed wool and viscose fibers. The light gray tone looks beautiful against any color palette. It has a cotton backing and is a nice heavy well made rug. It will defiantly hold up well to kids and pets. It is also perfect for high traffic areas like the living room.

Adding table lamps to a room is always very important to me. They add a touch of coziness that you do not get from overhead lighting. I love turning on table lamps in the evening. It adds just the right ambiance to a space. I loved the look of the Devereux Table Lamps. The base is handcrafted from natural concrete. I was planning to put them on the Ventura Console table, but they were a bit too big for it, so I put them in our upstairs loft. It was like they were made to go here!! The concrete is such a unique look, I just love them!

I also have had the Mayodan Fog Rug from Bassett for a couple years. It has held up great and is my most asked about rug! The clean lined pattern just makes it the perfect rug. It is hand woven and has cotton backing. It’s the perfect addition to any room.
